"Mag Fagunar Golpogatha" by Jane Kumkum Inaugurated with the Presence of Three Bishops

Justin Gomes : On the evening of April 15, 2023, a book inauguration program was held at the Mother Teresa Bhaban in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for "Mag Fagunar Golpogatha," a new book by author Jane Kumkum. The event was attended by a number of distinguished guests, including three bishops.

The event was presided over by Father Bulbul Ribeiro, the director of the Christian Communication Center, and attended by approximately 60 people, including esteemed guests such as Dr. Alo D'rozario, Khokon Corraya, Sister Prosanto SMRA, and other Christian writers and well-wishers.

The book is a collection of short stories that explore the lives of ordinary people living in the remote villages of Bangladesh during the rainy season. The stories highlight the struggles and joys of these people as they navigate life in the midst of natural disasters and changing social and economic conditions.

At the inauguration program, the author Jane Kumkum gave a brief introduction to her work, and expressed her hope that the book would bring attention to the challenges faced by people living in remote areas of Bangladesh, and encourage readers to reflect on the importance of empathy and compassion.

The event was graced by the presence of three bishops, including the Archbishop Bijoy D'cruze of the Dhaka Archdiocese, Bishop Poul Ponnen Kuber of the Mymensingh Diocese, and Bishop Theotonious Gomes. The bishops delivered speeches highlighting the significance of literature in promoting social awareness and change, and praised the author for her efforts in shedding light on the experiences of marginalized communities.

In his address, Archbishop Bijoy D'cruze stated, "The Church is committed to supporting works of literature that promote social justice and the common good. We believe that 'Mag Fagunar Golpokotha' is a valuable contribution to this cause, and we hope that it will inspire readers to work towards a more just and compassionate society."

Lucky florence Corraya and Sumon Corraya conducted the event, which was a testament to the growing interest in Christian literature in Bangladesh. Kumkum's book, which is a collection of stories, is a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the complexities of faith in the modern world.

The book inauguration was a tremendous success and a testament to Kumkum's writing prowess. We look forward to more such inspiring works from her in the future.
